SCROLL
About
The Onondaga County Department of Transportation is progressing the Oak Orchard Road over Youngs Creek Culvert Replacement project. This project will address structural deficiencies and provide roadway improvements to the immediately surrounding area.
Project Features
This project will replace an aging buried structure that is over 80 years old, and has reached the end of its useful service life. Extensive deterioration, including cracked and delaminated concrete, spalling, exposed reinforcement, and a non-standard railing, has led to significant structural deficiencies. Engineering evaluations determined that the structure is beyond repair and requires full replacement.
The new structure will be designed to provide a minimum 50-year service life while improving safety, resiliency, and long-term performance. Project features include a hydraulic opening that meets current design standards, measures to address scour concerns, optimized roadway geometry, and new bridge rail and guiderail systems that meet modern safety requirements. The design also emphasizes cost-effective solutions that reduce future maintenance and repair needs.
